What is FoodSmart?
FoodSmart is a Department of Health approved template that allows different types of food retail and food service businesses to develop their own Food Safety Program. Class 1 and 2 Victorian food premises (premises that handle and sell potentially hazardous foods) are legally required to have a Food Safety Program. FoodSmart is designed for Class 2 food service and food retail businesses; however it may also be suitable for some food manufacturing businesses. Click here for more information about FoodSmart.

How can FoodSmart help your food business?
By answering a series of questions about your food activities, FoodSmart will create a Food Safety Program tailored to your business. Your Food Safety Program can then be saved, printed and used in your business to help maintain safe food practices and meet your legal obligations.

How long will FoodSmart take to complete?
A FoodSmart Food Safety Program will take about 15 minutes to complete. If you run out of time you can save your incomplete program during any step and return to it at a later date to continue.

FoodSmart is linked with Business Victoria
The FoodSmart website is now linked with Business Victoria. This lets you use your Business Victoria registration to access your Food Safety Program on FoodSmart. Click here for more information about registering with Business Victoria
